Title
Awl
Description
English: Flint awl, sub-rectangular in plan with a projection towards the proximal end, convex-concave in profile and sub-triangular in section. On the dorsal face there is fine, abrupt to semi-abrupt retouch along the distal end. There is also fine retouch on each margin just above the tang-like projection at the proximal end. This projection is enhanced by this fine retouch, although it is not completely certain if the projection is a tang or a point. The flint is grey with pale mottling. There is no cortex and so it is classed as tertiary.

Butler (2005) shows a similar awl on page 129, Figure 54, Number 1.
