Title
awl
Description
English: A thick short flake of grey brown flint with opaque cream inclusions. The direction of the flake removal is difficult to ascertain. One convex margin is unretouched. The opposite is totally steeply worked to a symmetrical convex plan and brings both ends to a point. It may have been used as a double ended awl rather than a scraper. There is a little blunting to the flaked edge as though for a finger hold. There is a little use gloss on the shoulder of part of the flakework. Mercer(1981) illustrates an awl on page 135, fig 59, L156.
