Title
Awl
Description
English: Flint awl, almost triangular in plan and lozenge shaped in profile. On the dorsal side the distal tip is retouched and the proximal end broken. The right margin has semi abrupt retouch. On the ventral side the right margin is hinge fractured and there are visible conchoidal ripples.

The flint has a semi translucent pale grey mid section with opaque dark cream end inclusions or cortex in appearance.

Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 169, Fig. 71, No. 4 which is dated to the Neolithic period.
