Title |
awl |
||
Description |
English: Flake which has been worked along two edges towards point to make an awl or piercer. There is a medial ridge with natural abrasion on the sides of the ridge. There is a concave depression alongside this ridge, perhaps natural or from deliberate thinning with taking off a flake, but it provides backing for using the flake as an awl/piercer.
The flint is a dense medium to dark grey colour and was likely derived from a local beach pebble. Bond [2004] illustrates a similar example on page 57, fig 5.27 No.L31 which is dated to the neolithic. |
