Title
Awl
Description
English: Flint awl, sub-triangular in plan and slightly bi-convex in section. The dorsal face has a rippled surface, with abrupt retouch along the right margin. There is also gloss on this side towards the distal end. The distal end has a hinge fracture. Where the distal and right edges meet there is a point, suggesting that this was used as an awl. The flint is olive-green and has secondary cortex. It is likely to have derived from a local beach pebble.

Bond (2004) has a similar awl on page 153, Figure 5.137, Number 12.
