Title |
Awl |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete bronze tracer/awl. Measuring 61mm in surviving length, 5mm in width at the chisel end and 3mm in diameter at the pointed end. The sub-rectangular chisel end is complete but the majority of the circular cross-sectioned pointed end is missing due to an old break now worn. The chisel end, though slightly corroded, does appear relatively rounded/worn/abraded. Where surviving the original surface is patinated medium to dark green and shows extensive mainly diagonal fine abrasion marks on the chisel end half of the awl. There is a considerable amount of localised surface loss elsewhere revealing pale green corrosion products. This awl is Bronze Age in date. |
