Title |
Awl |
||
Description |
English: A small worn probably Roman copper-alloy awl or tracer. Measuring 39mm in total surviving length one half is circular in cross-section, 5.4mm in width and tapers to a point and the other is square in cross-section, 3.2mm in width, and appears to be incomplete due to an old break. Awls are fairly common Bronze Age finds in Suffolk but this example is atypical and is therefore more likely to be Roman in date. It is similar to another example from Isleham (see SF-DE65F3). |
