Date: 1960

Notes: Created in black ink on white paper. The text is surrounded by a border composed of a two lines, one of which is straight while the other has fluted decorations. Three lines composed of little squares separate the business's name and contact information from the list of library regulations. These regulations are followed by a final decorative line. ; Bookplate Type : Textual ; Bookplate Function : OwnershipThe eighteenth and nineteenth centuries saw the development and great success of circulating libraries that were commercially run and that charged patrons a small subscription for borrowing books. Indeed, circulating libraries became very fashionable, and their collections often focused on such popular materials as fiction, poetry, travel, biography, and periodicals. Paramount Sweets and Tea Room was located in Montreal. According to the city directory, the establishment was open from 1935 to 1980, although it changed ownership a number of times and even altered its name to Paramount Delicatessen in 1968. Proprietors listed in the directory are as follows: Peter Carol, Peter Yabelis, Tony Kyriacou, Michel Sikiotis, and Spiros Kinidaris. It is unclear during which exact period the lending library was in operation, although it must have been prior to 1968. ; Manuscript Notes : none
