Title |
BUCKLE |
||
Description |
English: Small copper-alloy single loop trapezoidal buckle frame. All edges are chunky but corroded. The bar is narrower but not offset; the longer outside edge is angled inwards towards a central rounded moulding with a central slight groove for a pin rest. The reverse is flatter. Width 18mm, length 12 mm, thickness 2 mm, weight 1.32g. Trapezoidal buckles appear to start in the 14th century; this one, with a central moulding, has similarities to strap-slides with central mouldings and pairs of internal projections (e.g. Egan and Pritchard 1991, 1260-1261). AD 1350-1500. |
