Title |
BUTTON |
||
Description |
English: Complete cast copper alloy button dating from the later post-medieval or early modern period, most probably the early 18th century. The button is complete though slightly damaged at the top. It is circular and domed in shape with a moulded decoration on the reverse consisting of curved radiate lines. In the centre of the reverse is a integrally cast attachment loop. The domed obverse shows the moulded bust of a king, possibly William III, because of the lettering (there is a moulded letter W and R, one to each side of the bust). The bust is shown crowned, with long hair and facing right with a sceptre and globe (or possibly a sword, but probably the former). |
