Title
Bag Seal : Post Medieval to Modern
Description
English: A complete Russian lead bag seal of Post-medieval to modern date (AD 1700-1850). The seal is comprised of a single disc of metal which is perforated by a hole running across its diameter. The holes would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag.

Stamped text can be seen on one side of the seal; one bears the image of a cornucopia or shell with some lettering or text which appears to read •[]OKU-TҔ. This text is likely to represent the name of the Quality Control Officer and possibly a code for the location at which the Officer worked or the registered number of the sealing tongs he used.

The other side is illegible due to ware but would have had lines of text denoting the place of export, the producer of the goods and the year of production.

The metal is a light cream in colour.
