If they happen to beworking in the monastery, or within the precincts, they layaside or bear to its destination any burden they may becarrying, and hasten to the service in church. If workingbeyond the precincts, so that it is inexpedient to repair to the church, they sing the Hour where they are. In either casethey resume their employment as soon as the service, whichon such occasions may be shortened, is finished, and continueworking: till near the time for None, when they return to the monastery. They then replace their tools where they areusually kept, or deliver them to the Prior, except—at a laterseason of the year—those used in hoeing, haymaking, antlreaping, wliich, as well as the instruments required for shaving,each monk keeps beside his own bed inthe dormitory as longas these operations last.
