She evidently was not a Frenchwoman herself for she was not at all politeas all the others we have met have been,and her French was not distinct. The next stop was for post cards at alittle shop where the man and his wifeand baby sat oqt front, while in the door-way stood the son practicing on the violin.We each bought ten cards for a franc.I asked the man if he spoke English. He said, Non, Mademoiselle, mais beef steket plum pudding. After walking past the hotel severaltimes we finally found it and went in to asimple supper of soup, fish, meat, cake,and coffee. Always there is fish for dinner.We decided we would go to bed early.We were on our way to the desk for postagestamps where we met Mrs. Blair. Come,girls, lets go for a ride around Paris.Alas for our hopes of going to bed early!
