Title
Bar mount
Description
English:

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy (1300-1400) strap clasp element with a bar mount at one end.

The strap-end is formed of a sheet plate, now incomplete, with one straight end and one presumed rounded end but this is missing. The sides are incurved. There is a rectangular cross-sectioned bar mount attached to the straight edge. It is riveted to the plate by a single, central, circular sectioned rivet.

Dimension: 13.03 mm length, 12.3 mm width, 2.24 mm thick and 0.79 g weight.

Similar examples can be found illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 157; fig. 103), dated to the 14th century, of which number 735 is perhaps the closest parallel.
