Description
English: Bath banner, Adm Sir John Thomas Duckworth (1748-1817)

Bath banner of Admiral Sir John Thomas Duckworth (1748-1817).In a silk and wool blend fabric, painted with Duckworth arms and inscribed 'Sir John Thomas Duckworth' to read the right way up when the banner is hung vertically. Duckworth was made a Knight Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1801 and installed in 1803. The banner would have been displayed in the chapel of the Order in Westminster Abbey. It dates before the augmentation of the Duckworth arms after the Battle of San Domingo in 1806. Description: Argent, on a chevron azure between two ducks in chief an anchor erect in base proper, a bomb fired or, accompanied by two cross patée of the field, on a chief of the second, a naval crown of the third, between two estoiles of the first. The arms were granted on 27 April 1803.
