86 F. V i er h a p p er, (406) CoroUe von A. Sokotranum leicht auseinanderzuhalten. Von den übrigen Arten ist A. Boehmianum Schinz (Deutsch-Südwestafrika) von unserer Pflanze durch behaarte Blätter und innerseits kahle Corolle verschieden. Bei A. coetaneum Stapf (tropisches Ostafrika), A. speciosum Fenzl (tropisches Ostafrika) und A. Somalense Balf. fil. (Somaliland) kommen die Blüten zugleich mit den Blättern zum Vorschein, während A. Sokotranum vor der Belaubung blüht. Überdies sind die Blätter von A. coetaneum und speciosum'^ zum Unterschiede von den stets kahlen der sokotranischen Pflanze wenigstens in der Jugend mehr minder dicht flaumig.

Nach Stapft gibt es 12 bis 13 Adenien, von welchen sechs im tropischen Afrika, zwei in Süd- afrika, eines auf Sokötra und drei bis vier in Arabien vorkommen sollen. Stapf ist es also bereits auf- gefallen, dass die sokotranische Pflanze eine distincte Species ist. Leider ist mir von den südafrikanischen 1 Eine kahlblättrige Form dieser Pflanze ist A.. glahntm Engler. Was A. obesum (Forsk., Flor. Aeg. Ar. p. 205 (1775)) Roem. et Schult. (Linn., syst. veg. IV, p. 411 (I819;) (Arabien) ist, vermag ich nicht anzugeben. Von A. Sokotranum ist es schon durch die unterseits zottig-filzigen (»villoso-lomentoso«) Blätter verschieden. 2 InThiselton-Dyer, Flor, of Trop. Afr. IV, 1, p. 226—230 (1902).
