rful sight to see thisgreat prince, Abraham, ride into the land on a camel! Herein Canaan was to be born, some day, the Saviour of theworld. Abraham and Sarah were old. They had no son. WillGod never keep His promise and give us a child ? — so theymay often have wondered when they sat in their tent. WillGod forget His covenant, His promise? One night God told Abraham to look up to the stars andcount them, if he could. So many shall thy children be,said God. Abraham believed God, and this pleased Godmore than all else in Abraham. When Abraham was ninety-nine years old and Sarahninety, three angels came to their tent one day. And theLord said to Abraham through the angels, Before a year isgone Sarah will have a son. Sarah laughed. She thoughtshe was too old to be a mother. Listen! When Abraham was one hundred years old, hehad the son. He called him Isaac. Ah, if we could haveseen happy father Abraham and mother Sarah on that day!It was the gladdest day of their lives. Gen. 12, 15, 16.

X BIBLE PRIMER 21 8. SEPARATION OF ABRAHAM AND LOT. After some time, Abrahams lambs and sheep, cows andcamels became very, very many. It was hard to find pasturefor them all. Lot, the young nephew of Abraham, also hadlarge flocks. Sometimes when the shepherds of Abrahamcame to a cool spring of water, or a grassy meadow, Lotsshepherds came, too.
