English: German bicycle with coiled spring wheels, taken on Western Front, WW1 material- frame- metal; seat canvas; pedals- one wood and one rubber two-wheeled bicycle; male frame; canvas seat; black plastic handgrips; coiled spring tyres around rim; triangular metal box mounted inside corner of frame (repair kit.); brakes- pedal back brake markings- serial number- stamped in frame under seat- 506906 brand - model name- marked on pedal brake- "TORPEDO" maker's mark- stamped in rear hub by oil cap- (an eagle on a mountain top) - F and S - Torpedo - (indistinct - dirty - obscured) museum number- painted in white above front wheel on frame- "429" (incorrect number) note- bicycle with springs around rim of wheel to replace rubber, because of wartime shortages in Germany
