First cylinder pier ready for driving in construction of Piers 30 and 32, to be constructed at a cost of $1,250,000, REPORT OF BOARD OF STATE HARBOR COMMISSIONERS. Jo trend, the belt railroad has been made a subject of urgent developmentby the Board. Spur tracks connecting with the State main line and the variouscompany yards have been included in the plans of all the new piers,and it is the intention to run them on all the existing piers wide enoughto hold them. TThen not wide enough, the piers will be widened forthis purpose, where the width of water-slips permits. Three of the existing wharves. Xos. 9, 11 and 12, have been widenedby the Board within the past year, and the belt railroad runs on tothem, with most gratifj^ng results to the users of the wharves and agreat increase in business to the port.
