ny of the members and vis-iting delegates then repaired to the MctlaCafe, in the basement of the museumbuilding, where luncheon was served. The second session began at twooclock, P.M. Mrs. Alice Hall Walterspresented a paper entitled The Oppor-tunity of the Audubon Societies, whichprovoked much discussion of a helpfulcharacter. This was followed by anaddress by Hon. Gustav Straubenmiller,Assistant Superintendent of New YorkCity Schools, on Nature Study in theSchools. The speaker was asked manyquestions, which brought out muchinteresting information in regard to hisexperiences in teaching bird-study tochildren. The Association then adjourned to aneighboring room in the building, wherea lesson in nature-study was being givento a class of blind children, after whichthe company proceeded to a large lecture-hall where, for over an hour, they wereentertained by an intensely interestingaddress by Dr. Homer R. Dill, of theUniversity of Iowa. His subject was,The Birds of Laysan Island, Hawaii.
