Thename and versatile talent of this promi-nent educator are so well known that itis needless to say more. The society hasevery cause for congratulation that Dr.Blackman, with the many calls upon histime from college^, schools, and clubscould accept the presidency. Enteringinto the work with the energy that is oneof his distinguishing characteristics, wefeel sure our society will make markedprogress and continue with greaterinterest in the lines laid down by ourformer president. We have now a largemembership. Enrolled on our books arethe names of the best people of our state.We now confidently hope we have suc-ceeded in overcoming many of the pre-judices that met us in the first year of ourstruggle. (258) The Audubon Societies 259 leaflets whose pages are filled with accuratedescriptions of birds; we supply teachersand schools applying for them with chartson which are correct representations,beautifully colored, of many familiarbirds; and we endeavor to keep in touchwith the children seeking to obtain thishelp by getting them to become pledgemembers, by which they promise orpledge themselves not to molest or harmbirds, or their nests or eggs. We supplysheriffs and game wardens with clothwarnings, or with leaflets of the game-law, and in neat card form the laws havebeen condensed for posting in hotels,stations and post-oflices. Any of these maybe had by addressing the secretary of theFlorida Audubon Society, at Maitland.We have this year added to our list per-haps our most valuable leaflet. TheEcono
