nd Chickadees were peck-ing seeds from a feeding-shelf; and a Downy 276 Bird - Lore Woodpecker enjoyed his luncheon at anopen cafeteria counter a little distance apart.The seeking mind, aroused by this novelpresentment, turned to the other half of thewindow to receive the explanation veryobviously offered there. Three large Au-dubon charts showed the birds whose com-pany we may attract and retain throughoutthe bleakest winter, if the enticements setforth in the scenic part of the window arepersistently employed. Samples of different other food devices were shown at a popularfield club of Englewood, together with acorn stalk shelter erected on the club grounds.All this was done by the Protection Com-mittee of the Englewood Bird Club and theresults should recommend their plan to otherbird associations.
