Deaf, and sightnot sufficient for any practical use. r Morrison Heady.â Born 1829 ; lost sight of oneeye by an accident at four ; and by another accident(both slight) lost sight in remaining eye at sixteen.Between these two accidents, a much more severeone laid the foundation of his deafness. Becametotally deaf at forty ; at fifty, sight was partiallyrestored in one eye, enabling him to find his wayabout. Devised and used a glove alphabet for com-munication ; learned the manual alphabet fromLaura Bridgman. While he has had but briefschooling, he is an educated, accomplished gentle-man ; has written several books, three of whichwere recently republished by subscription. EMMA KUBICEK, in 1902 (with MRS. JORDAN). Hoggsett.â Son of J. V. Hoggsett, New Vienna, TheO.; about fifteen years old. Is a hearing- mute, and Blind-Deafis blind. Non-educable. Eleanor Kelley, first reported in the New YorkJournal as deaf and blind ; a pupil of St. JosephsInstitute for the Deaf, Fordham, New York. Ac-count copied into the Deaf-Mutes1 Register and theVolta Bureau records. She was at the St. JosephInstitute for two years, and was returned to herhome. Subsequently entered the New York Schoolfor the Blind, and was there a year, but provingnon-educable, was again returned to her home.She is blind and mute, but with good hearing, andis an exception in that she is not feeble-minded, al-though so far mentally unbalanced as to be unedu-cable. Adam Long, reported in a Pittsburg, Pa., news-paper as deaf and blind, and so recorded in theVolta Bureau. Is only short-sighted and hard-of-hearing; goes about the city alone. Albert Jobus, Maryland School for Colored Deafand Blind.â
