Description |
English: Crashed after takeoff from Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) on a charter flight with German tourists for sister company Alas Nacionales on February 6, 1996. All 189 people on board lost their lives. The pilot's and first officer's instruments indicated different speed and altitude readings, and the crew lost control over the aircraft when it stalled. The crash led to a scare of little-known carriers in Germany, and Birgenair went out of business. |
