Description
English: A complete hook-piece of a cast copper-alloy post-medieval book clasp. The flat rectangular plate has an integral hook at one end. The opposite end expands and has a copper-alloy rivet. The plate is decorated with an elaborate panel with two outward facing crescents with a fleur-de-lis in between. Above and below the panel is a border consisting of four horizontal rows. The inner row is a plain band, with two horizontal rows of incised vertical lines bordering a central row of raised pellets. The length of the clasp is 44.0mm, the width is 16.4mm and the weight is 3.52g.
