Title
Book fitting
Description
English: Cast copper-alloy book-clasp. Hinged, double-sided rectangular plate to which a strap was secured by the two intact copper-alloy rivets. Hinged loop has a central loop and the reverse is flat. The clasp terminates in a small loop in the form of a stylised animal head, with the hole at right angles to the rest of the clasp. The plate is decorated with a crudely incised sub-square panel with a wavy line incised below one edge. The panel has a number of abstract incised linear and curving features. Even green patina. Both surfaces lightly scratched.
