In summer, if our horses have not muchto do, we turn them out to pasture, where theyeat grass. In winter we give them plenty ofhay and oats, and, when they work, we alwaysfeed them with grain. 7. Horses will eat grain of any kind, but theyseem to like oats best. We sometimes feed themwith corn-meal instead of oats. 8. The teeth of a horse change in looks everyyear until he is eight or nine years old, and menwho are used to horses can tell how old they areby just looking at theii^ teeth. 9. The horse does not lap his drink like acat and dog, but he puts his mouth into the waterand swallows whole mouthfuls. He will some-times drink two or more large buckets of water ata time.
