3. Danmarks Vedplanter og Halv-Vedplanter 51 men Etatsraad Forchhammer fik Sagen neddysset. En Skovfoged Rosen salte saa en Jernplade med Navnetrækket F. VII, L. D. i Stedet og blev til Tak forfremmet til Skovrider. Avnen blev senere dræbt af Polyporus radiatus. I Norge findes Ege med 7—8 m Omfang (se »Naturen« 1912: 334; 1913: 29; 1915: 380 samt Schübeier). Den største Stilk-Eg var noget efter forrige Aarhundredes Midte 37,6 m høj og 94 cm over Grunden Fig. 37. Ambrosius-Egen ved Valdemarsslot (Taasinge). 4. Juni 1915. Omfanget var 6,10 m. 7,8 m i Omfang; da den 50 Aar senere fældedes, synes den ikke at være bleven maalt. Ogsaa Sverige har store Ege, f. Ex. Ava-Eken paa Fåro (i 1910 5,30 m Omfang) og »Kungs-Eken« i Värmland (for 25 Aar siden »dryga 7 alnar i omkrets vid roden«). Tyskland har mange flere. Her kan blot nævnes, at i det østlige Holsten er der 87 Træer med Omfang fra 4,20—8,60 m, til Dels afbildede i »Die Riesen der Pflanzenwelt« (i Følge Knuth). Heering nævner fra Slesvig flere med Omfang 3,36—6,25 m. Fra Frankrig nævnes en Eg, som 1860 var 20 m høj og havde et Tværsnit af 7 m (altsaa omtr. 22 m Omfang). Naar man har villet sætte dens Alder til 2000 Aar, er det dog værd at lægge Mærke til, at Biisgen angiver, at en Eg med 2 m Tvær- maal kun var 150 Aar gammel.
