Above it are an insignificant figure ofOur Lord and the Emblems of the four Evangelists sculpturedin low relief. The lower portion of the walls is covered in■ the most promiscuous manner with bas-reliefs, and a medleyof mural tablets, the number of which would delight theeyes of an English parish clerk; but nevertheless the richcharacter given to the work by the fine shadows of thearcades in the lower half of the front, is worthy of specialnotice and recollection.
