Jolm the Baptist.Close to it, as I liavo said, stands tlic Chnrcli of SanVincenzo, which thoujuli Eomanesque in its foundation hasbeen much modernized, and is now mainly interesting onaccount of the exquisite examples of late fifteenth centurysilversmiths work which still enrich its sacristy. Con-spicuous among these is a silver processional cross. Thiscross is nearly two feet across the arms by three feet in heightfrom the top of the staff. There is a crucifix on one sideand a sitting figure of Our Lord on the other; figures ofSS. George, Vincent, Sebastian, Christoj)her, and Victor,and Our Lord on the base or knop; and half-figures of theI Evangelists on the arms of the cross. The ornamentsconsist of crockets bent and twisted, of blue enamels, filigree-work, nielli, and turquoises set in the centre of dark-blueenamels.
