RESULTS Forty-one species of mammals were found in or adjacent to poco- sins and Carolina bays. Fauna was composed of 1 species of marsupial, 5 insectivores, 8 bats, 2 rabbits, 15 rodents, 8 carnivores, and 2 hoofed mammals. Only 2 of these 41 species are exotics, and interestingly neither Myocaster nor Rattus was encountered.
