Albion, Vengeance, and Majestic were ordered tosteam in and attack these works in order to ascertaintheir armament. It proved to be of no more thanmedium weight, but the attack drew the fire of batterieshitherto unlocated, and it became evident that themere demolition of the permanent works would notsuffice.
