Title
Bronze Age Socketed Hammer
Description
English: A Late Bronze Age cast copper-alloy socketed hammer (1150-800 BC). The implement is sub-rectangular in plan and side view and is sub-rectangular in cross-section with rounded corners. At the top there is an old irregular break. Viewed in plan, the sides are very slightly concave. The head of the hammer is convex and uneven and may be the result of damage when in use. Alternatively, it may be damage caused by corrosion. There is no sign of cast marks. The distance from the base of the socket to the surface of the head is about 39.2mm. This hammer is severely pitted and corroded overall. It has active bronze disease inside the socket. 72.4 x 26.3 x 20.5mm. Weight: 146.82.
