Description
English: An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy buckle plate, dating to c. AD 1350 - 1450. The plate of sheet metal. The front part of the plate is complete and rectangular. It has a trapeziodal notch in the centre where the missing pin would have attached to the original missing buckle frame All that remains of the rear part is a single arm at one side of the central notch. The front retains areas of gilding and is decorated with two incised concentric rectangles framing the rivet holes. In the centre of the are three equally spaced circular rivet holes which are aligned vertically, the central rivet hole retains its dome headed, circular cross sectioned rivet. The rear is undecorated.
