Title |
Buckle plate |
||
Description |
English: Cast copper alloy buckle plate with the remains of an integral buckle frame dating to the Medieval period, (1100-1500). The object is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. At one end are the remains of an integral buckle frame. This end terminates with a projecting buckle bar. A central circular rivet hole can be seen to the side of this bar. The other side terminates in a break and consists of two sheets of copper alloy in between which would have been the strap. Two raised vertical mouldings separate the buckle frame and the plate. It has a mid-green patina and is in poor condition. The object can be dated to 1200-1300AD. |
