and High Peak; the flows have, however, spreadover a large adjoining territory. Outside of this are found a great many othereruptive bodies in this district, of which tlie more prominent are: Tlie basalt bodyon Oathill, some smaller ones in the territory of the -TCtna Consolidated Company,and andesitic eruptive body northeast of Oatliill. Pine Mountain, Cobb Mountain, andothers. This district is hence a region of intense eruptive action. Large masses oflava have covered parts of it. and wliile partly eroded, extensive sheets of tuff coverat present parts of it to a greater or less depth, and make it very difficult to determinethe limits of the cores of igneous rocks.
