sex. Theseprobably passed rapidly northwards or north-westwards,as an increase was noted in Stafibrdshire on May the 7th. On May the 8th a fresh immigration must have reaeheilthe eastern half of the southern coast, as increased numberswere noticed in Kent and Sussex. On the two followingdays the species was noted from the western counties ofSomerset and Worcester, while on May the 9th a decreasein its numbers was reported in Kent, and it was not observedin Sussex, On May the 10th or 11th another small innnigrationprobably arrived, as increased numbers were again reportedfrom Sussex and also from Wilts. The previous immigration had by this time reached York-shire, where one bird was noticed on May the lOtli andmany on the following day. On May the 12th increasednumbers were noted in Oxfordshire, and, though LesserWhitethroats had been seen in Essex and Cambridge a weekearlier, they were reported for the first time from the easterncounties of Sutiblk and Lincoln. 6G LESSER VVHITETHROAT.
