years old who had an accident about a year before herdeath, when her spine was supposed to have been fractured. There was, how-ever, no paralysis. A lumbar abscess formed and was opened. 1866. Dr. J. S Jones. 9033. Vertebrae. (See p. 9). A part of the dorsal and lumbar regionof the spine, in fluid. A section shows that the body of one dorsal vertebra, a portion of theanterior part of the intevertebral substance and of the body of the vertebraabove have been destroyed and replaced by cheesy material. A downward andbackward dislocation has taken place with projection of the bone into thespinal canal, but without apparent pressure upon the cord. Posteriorly aspace has been formed filled with soft tissue, and above it the processes pro-ject backward as a knuckle. From a child. 1896. Childrens Hospital. 9340. Vertebrae. A section through the lower dorsal and upper lum-bar vertebrae, in fluid. The bodies of the lumbar are largely replaced by a white, cheesy material. BONES.—TUBERCULOSIS.

Dr. Edward H. Nichols. 9838. Vertebrae. A part of the spinal column, in fluidA section through the last five dorsal and three upper lumbar vertebraeshows at the junction of this region a marked loss of substance of the bodiesof the bones. The spine is bent forward. There are several cheesy areas andthe trabeculae 01 bone are extensively thickened. There is no evident pres-sure on the cord.From a child. 8128. Vertebrae. The spine and pelvis with portions of the ribsattached, in fluid. The bodies of the lower dorsal and all of the lumbar vertebrae are exten-sively roughened and carious.
