GOLDEN GIANT INTERMEDIATE, OR YELLOW LEVIATHAN MANGEL. This entirely new and distinct Mangel is considerably larger than the Yellow Ovoid Mangel, and is of a beautiful russet-yellow color. As shown in the illustration, it is remarkably even in shape, rather elongated, and of vigor- ous growth; it has a fine neck, large leaves with green stems, and a very smooth, fine skin. The flesh is white, firm, and sweet, greatly relished by cattle. Altogether, it is a magnificent root, easily lifted (growing more than half above the ground), producing enormous crops, and is an excellent keeper. Our cash prizes for the largest roots of the Golden Giant Mangel were awarded as fol- lows: First prize, $25.00, to M. Steves, Lulu Island. British Columbia, for a mangel weighing 34% lbs.; second prize, S15.00, to J. W. Robinson, Elsinore, Cal., weight of root 32 Bt>s.; the third prize also went to California, for a mangel of 30 fts. weight, raised by J. L. Grabel, of Table Blufl". "We wish we had space to publish the reports re- ceived also from otber growers,—all in terms of highest praise. Per pkt. 5 cts.; oz. 10 cts.; % lb 20 cts.; per ft 50 cts., postpaid. By express or freight, 40 cts. per ft; 5 fts. or more at 35 cts. per ft.
