Description |
English: A cast copper alloy Early Medieval buckle dating probably to the 5th or 6th century. The frame is an elongated D-shape and is oval in section. The pin bar is circular in section and is narrower than the rest of the frame. The pin curves over the pin bar. Length 19.05mm, width 8.88mm and maximum thickness 2.93mm. Weight 1.7g. Similar examples can be found in Macgregor and Bolick 1993, A summary catalogue of the Anglo-Saxon collections (non ferrous metals), Ashmolean Museum Oxford, pages 193-207. |
