Description
English: A cast copper alloy Medieval casket key. Late 12th to early 14th century. The key has a circular bow, a solid stem, a cut bit and no shoulder. Its weight is 4.2g, the length is 33.52mm, the width of the stem is 5.17mm and the thickness of the stem is 3.27mm. The diameter of the bow is 13.1mm. The object has a mid to dark green patina with very little corrosion product. See Read, 2001, Metal Artefacts of Antiquity, pages 67 and 72 nos. 546-547 and 549-550.
