Drew says: In autumn, when on his first tourof inspection about the house, he hops along in a curioussidelong manner, just like a schoolgirl in a slow hurry.White-headed, grave and sedate, he seems a very paragon ofpropriety, and if you appear to be a suitable personage, hewill be apt to give you a bit of advice. Becoming confi-dential, he sputters out a lot of nonsense in a manner whichcauses you to think him a veritable Whiskey Jack; yetwhen he is so disposed, a more bland, mind-his-own-businessappearing bird will be hard to find, as will also be manysmall articles around camp after one of his visits, for hiswhimsical brain has a great fancy for anything which maybe valuable to you but perfectly useless to him.
