Exterior View of T. F. CourtneyCo.s Store, Halifax, N.S. & S. It is scarcely necessary to emphasizethe good taste dominating the entire ar-rangement. It is not only pleasing tothe eye, but it is serviceable and this combination is the keynote of store in-teriors to-day. The floor itself is aboutperfect. It is of hardwood throughoutand firm underfoot. There is no trippingover knotty and uneven surfaces. Whileit may be said that the floor is really asecondary con.sideration, yet the wholeeffect of this interior would have beenlost if the floor had not harmonized. Aglnuce at the ceiling bears out the sameidea. A good setting has thus been se-cured and the silent salesmen, steelchairs, and other handsome fixtures arein perfect accord with the general in-terior. The combination thus harmoniz-ing brings ont the best results, whichwould have been entirely lost had theceiling been left bare. Attention is di-ereeted to the silent salesmen, one forconfectionery, the other for fancy soaps;also to the auxiliary shelving and thefancy biscuit and dried fruit display re-ceptacles on the right of the picture.The shelving and the arrangement ofthe articles displayed thereon all aroundthe store is a feature. On the left hand side are noticedcomputing scales, cash register, refrig-erator, demonstrating counter, and thesystem of compact containers, which alsodisplay dry fruits, biscuits, etc. These are behind the counter on the left. Thecounters themselves are attractive andrather ornate. The lighting system hasnot been neglected, and is a feature ofthe store, at the same time con*espond-ing with the general good taste display-ed.
