Description
English: Soldiers unloading sacks of Canadian mail from a canvas-topped truck. The men are taking the sacks into a building, most likely for sorting. Letters provided soldiers with a vital link to home and the outside world.

The fact that letters were sent all over the world to and from the fighting troops illustrates the massive organisational feats that were achieved during World War I. Not only were men, horses, machinery and equipment transported all over the continent, they also managed to arrange an efficient postal service amongst the chaos.
