Title
Casket Key from Market Rasen
Description
English: Copper alloy

Casket Key. Cast key with a solid bit with two lateral clefts in its base and a hole at the end of stem. A prominent collar moulding separates stem from bow; the latter may originally have been of heart-shaped form: the stubs of paired elements appear to have met the outer part of bow, though the junction is now lost. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1750-1900.

Length: 28.5mm, Width: 15mm, Thickness: 5.5mm, Weight: 3.18gms.
