244 Corn, Gold Strike tl^^'l^A cover). A new hybrid Sweet Corn for 1961. Gold Strike is an outstanding medium-late Bantam Evergreen-type, which is adapted to this locality. Stalks are strong and vigor- ous, averaging 6V2 to 7' tall and generally producing two good ears per stalk. Ears are very attractive, 81,2" long, 16-18 rows, of deep, medium broad kernels. Kernels are bright yellow, tender, with excellent flavor and texture. Geld Strike has shown splendid drought and disease resistance. 85 days. Pkt. 25c; 1/4 lb. 70c; lb. $1.10; 2 lbs. $2.15; 3-9 lbs. @ 84c lb.; 10-24 lbs. @ 77c lb., post- paid. 419 Cantaloupe, Edisto '^^^^^^ thicker than the present commercial varie- ties and usually a somewhat deeper and richer salmon. When grown on good soil, this cantaloupe averages between 3 and 4 pounds and after tests from 12-13% soluble solids, indicating a high sugar content. The rind is exceptionally hard, making it a better shipper than other commercial varieties.
