le chrysnnthemum may be planted at any time after the pround has become warm In spring until the middle of June and make large blooming plants by fall. The chrysanthemum is a gross feeder and dt'llghts in a rich solf with plenty of sunshine and moisture. As they flower only on terminal branches, the tojis of the young Elants should be pinched out when five or six inches Igh. Allow four shoots to grow from this main trunk; when these are four inches high pinch out the terminal bud, and save three or four of the branches that will spring from each of these limbs. Allow these last branches to attain a height of six inches, then pinch out the tops for the last time. This should not be later than August 1st: after this they should be allowed to grow undisturbed. If wanted for indoor blooming they should be lifted about the 1st of September and pf)tted. Give a thorough watering and set In a shady place for a few days. Afterwards expose them to the full light. If large size flowers are wanted allow only one flower to each branch, pinching out all but terminal buds as fast as they appear. nly some of the best varieties are given here. The collection of eight varieties $1.25; 20 cents each. OLDMINE. Ilich golden yellow; outer petals reflexed and center incurving in a whorl. In perfection November 20th to 30th. Rest flowers were from buds taken October 10th. We predict it will depose Modesto and Golden Wedding, being more dwarf, surpassing both in size, a rival in color, and having better stem than the former. ENUY WEEKS. A rosy crimson Japanese of immense size, brocid petals, partially twisted. Dwarf habit, stem and foliage perfect. Good exhibition variety. 25c. UEEN OF PLUMES. A very double hairy chrysanthemum of a beautiful shade of bright pink. One of the best hirsute varieties to date. IlILOWA. A brilliant crimson Japanese of easy culture and good habits. The petals are twisted and contorted but show only the dark crimson upper surface, making a very artistic and showy bloom. Ul'ERBA. The latest Japanese Incun'ed pink that has come to our notice, being in perfection December 10th to 30th. A very double flower 514 inches to 6 inches in diame- ter with high, rounded center. Color, bright pink, inter- mediate between that of its parents. This we believe to be one of the best commercial varieties we have pro- duced. Buds that were taken November 1st will not be developed for Christmas. WILLOWBUOOK. An early white variety of good sub- stance. Japanese, an Improvement on Merry Monarch. Stem and foliage good. WHITE BONNAKFON. Variety of great promise which we predict will become as popular as the typical MaJ. BonnafTon. Color, pure white; form identical with Bon- naffon; growth very short-jointed, not 3 feet in height. Foliage large and very dark green. Its lateness (No- vember 20th to 30th) greatly enhances its value. Take terminal bud about October 10th. Certlflcated by four committees. YELLOW FITZWIGRAM. A clear yellow sport from Lady Fitwlgram. Indispensable to those who want the earliest yellow.
