LOUISVILLE, KY. 115 New Roses foe^ 1901m
Text Appearing After Image:
New Seedling- Kose, Lady Joy. New Hardy Rose, SOLEIL D'OB. XEAV HARDY ROSE, SOLEIL D'OR. (New race, Tuere- tiiia.) A cross between the Persian yellow (Rosea Lutes) and the H. P. Antoine Ducher. It retains a good deal of the character of Rosea Lutea, the bark of the wood being reddish, the thorns very fine, the foliage more ample, and the leaves of a beautiful clear green are closer together. Altogether this grand rose forms a totally new section different from any at present in commerce. This magnificent variety like tbe Persian Yellow, is perfectly hardy. Robust, very vij^orous, making plants of three feet high, with brownish wood, foliage beautiful bright green, conical shaped buds, of a lovely hue, the flower when expanded being very full, large and globular, the petals in the center being well incurved, superb color, varying from gold and orange yellow to reddish gold, shaded with nasturtium red. The color stands, the sun well. Plants in 2-inch pots, $1,00 each. Nanz & Neuner's New Hybrid Tea Rose LADY JOY. LADY JOY. Again we have the good fortune to offer to the public a grand new seedling rose, Lady Joy. This beautiful rose is a cross between the American Beauty and Belle Siebrecht. Its blooming qualities can not be excelled, each and every eye and shoot producing a Slow- er, the size being equal to if not larger than its parent, the American Beauty. The blooms are cup shape, very double and open most beautifully, emitting a most delicious perfume. In color it is deeper than the Ameri- ran Beauty, a peculiar and new crimson luster, most striking and beautiful, resembling an artificial flower, being a vigorous grower, making a compact plant, with deep green leaves. For a forcing rose it is excellent, and for out door culture can not be excelled. We can truth- fully bespeak for this new rose as being an acquisition and should be in every greenhouse and garden. Strong plants, 21^-inch pots, 50 cents each; two-year-old plants, $1.00 each.
