CULTURE TULIPS. Next in importance to the Hyacinth, if not of equal consideration, comes the Tulip. It is difficult to conceive of anything more pleasing to the eye, than a bed of good Tulips. The great variety of colors produced, their intense brilliancy and beautiful shading, make them universal favorites. Another great consideration in their favor is the ease with which they can be cultivated, requiring only any good common soil to grow them to perfection ; the price, too, as compared with other bulbs, places them within the reach of all, and there can be no reason why every family should not have a good bed of Tulips. There is no class of bulbs that makes so rich and gorgeous a display of blossom with so little attention and care in cultivation, and at so trifling a cost. The Tulip has been so much improved by the Dutch cultivators, that it now ranks high in the floral world, and people who have been accustomed to see a bed of them on the old homestead from their youth, have little idea of the magnificent varieties brought into notice by the amateurs.
