Description
English: Celestial table globe

Celestial table globe. It forms a pair with the terrestrial globe, Hill GLB0091. Astronomical details on the sphere show a labelled magnitude table inside a cartouche above Gemini. The Milky Way is labelled. The 48 Ptolemaic constellations and four of the non-Ptolemaic constellations are drawn. There are three southern constellations as well as those of Plancius and those of Hevelius, except Sextans, Scutum, Lacerta and Mons Maenalus. Not all the constellations are labelled. The ship Argo, one of the Ptolemaic constellations on the globe, follows the Dutch style. For full details about the cartography and construction of this globe please refer to the related publication.
